Expert job search advice.

Blah, Blah, Blah, DO WORK!

Lately, one of my husband Pace and my favorite things to do is read motivational quotes from former Navy Seal Jocko Willink.  The rule is….you can’t just read the quote.  You have to read it in a Jocko voice.

Here’s a personal favorite: “I’m not saying 0430 is for everyone. But if you are sleeping until 10 every day, get used to losing.”

Did you say it in your best Jocko voice?

Here’s another favorite:  “The idea isn’t going to execute itself… You have to do it now.” The reason we love his stuff is because you can apply it to anything.  I need to do a better job about working out in the morning.  Jocko would say, “Execute. Don’t think“.

For my clients who are jobless right now doing a job search, I’ve got two Jocko quotes to get you going: “Each and every day I get back up and move forward with my first clenched towards the battle.” (I am going to translate this to say “job seeking is hard. It’s demoralizing and sometimes soul crushing.  But you have to get up again.  The only way to get a job is by getting out there and searching”)

“Discipline is at the root of all good qualities”. (Translation:  If you want a job, treat job hunting like a job.  Wake up, shower, stay on task)

Now, “Blah Blah Blah Blah DO WORK.”
