Work one-on-one with Sarah Johnston– LinkedIn Top Voice and Industry Career Thought Leader
Job searching is undoubtedly hard. Sometimes, it helps to have a “friend” or coach help you navigate the online world of social networking or challenge you to think strategically about your job search strategy. Don’t be the person who applies to 20 jobs a day for 5 months. That’s maddening!
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.
Why job seekers need an executive interview and career coach
In 2015, when I told my friends that I was going to launch a job search coaching business, I got some funny stares. They’d never heard of a career coach who helps job seekers strategize about how to find work faster.
Fast forward to today, literally every single one of these friends has tapped in to my expertise because they know that I can help them land (great) jobs faster than if they were job searching alone.
In fact, if you look at the research, the Harvard Business Review recently released a stat that shows that the odds of job search success for job seekers who use a job search program are 2.67 times higher, as noted in “The Effectiveness of Job Search Interventions: A Meta-Analytic Review.”
The impact of a job loss is great
Let’s say you are making $100,000.
Unfortunately, because of Covid, you find yourself among the 51 million unemployed Americans.
Research shows us that the average job search (in a good economy) is 5 months long.
100,000/12 = $8,333.33 income lost every month you are unemployed.
$8,333 X 5 = $41,6666. And this number doesn’t factor in health insurance, retirement, stock options, etc. etc.
Working with me, I can help you narrow your focus, think strategically about your search, better articulate your unique value, have outcome focused -and- authentic networking conversations and more targeted interviews.
My Clients Land Jobs
Even when unemployment numbers were over 10% this spring and summer, the majority of my resume and coaching clients have landed jobs in an average of 3-4 months (which is HUGE considering the majority of the people who hire me are in complex, niche or leadership roles).
Job searching is a learned skill. The investment you make in yourself pays off in spades for years to come.

Job Search Coaching Sessions
Coaching can be purchased as an à la carte add-on to resume writing or as a stand-alone service and will learn top-tier executive resume examples and best practices.
Example client sessions:
- “I have an upcoming interview and need interview coaching” (targeted interview coaching for a specific opportunity)
- “I want to learn to use LinkedIn better for a job search”
- “I want to learn how to write content on LinkedIn that positions me as a thought leader”
- “I want to just talk through with someone how I should approach people I know about my job search. Networking makes me feel uncomfortable and I’d like to role play”
- “I have a hard time articulating my value. I want to work with you to craft an elevator pitch and practice it”
- “I want to talk through how to create a strategic job search. I want you to help me develop an actionable plan”
My coaching style.
Most of my clients are senior management to C-Suite. Occasionally, I have the opportunity to work with early-career professionals, and I enjoy supporting a first job search. The common thread connecting the people I work best with is that they are outcome-focused high performers.
I am an action-oriented coach. I work best with people who are motivated and ready to make a change. I don’t do well dragging clients along. If you are struggling with motivation and need an accountability partner, I will share some quality referrals.
Cancelation policy: Sometimes things come up and you need to cancel—I get it. Or, you might land a job before our session (yay you!). However, if you miss your appointment, or cancel with less than 48 hours notice, you will still be charged the full price of your appointment.
