Expert job search advice.

What can you control in the job search?

Want to know the ONE thing in the job search process that you can control?

It’s your attitude.

Interestingly, Serge P. da Motta Veiga‘s research revealed that for job-seekers who come into it with a know-it-all attitude are more likely to get discouraged and give up more easily than people who approach the whole job hunt saying, “What can I learn from this?”

A candidate who approaches their job search as an experience they can learn from — which the authors call “learning goal orientation” in the study — are better off.

What does this mean? What are some things you can “learn” from job hunting? I would love to hear from you!  We all know job hunting can be a frustrating experience– tell me something you learned during the process.
